Yousmarg - Jammu and Kashmir - India

Yusmarg is approximately 47 km from the Srinagar and lies in the Badgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. The two-hour drive to the place is an enjoyment in itself. Grassy pastures stretching to acres of land, the dense forests full of pine trees, with the backdrop of splendid snow capped mountains leave you almost speechless. 

The two-hour drive from Srinagar to Yusmarg takes you through lush pastures, dense pine forests and impressive snow - capped mountains in the background that leaves you spellbound. It is likely that after getting to Yusmarg you might want to extend your stay by a few days. Specially, for those who love taking long walks in picturesque locales, Yusmarg is the place to be. Take a laid-back stroll in the flower - strewn meadows, or by the Doodh Ganga River, crashing its way over the rocks. A little ahead of Yusmarg lies the Nilnag Lake which is embraced by the surrounding hills.

Yousmarg is a set of meadows surrounded by Pine trees and Mountains.A very interesting place to visit is Nilnag Lake, which is surrounded by Tall pine trees . It is believed that Jesus spent his last days here at this place in Kashmir,Yousmarg is said to be short form of "Yus" Youza or Jesus and "marg" means a meadow.

Horse riding in the valley can be great fun, the ponywallas in Yousmarg have quite reasonable charges for a ride compared to other destinations.

This is an idyllic meadow that is just perfect for a day's outing or for a short walk along the mighty Doodh Ganga River. The last is so-called due to the milky white foam of its waters. You can either enjoy on its banks or simply doze in the sun. Yusmarg is also a trekkers' base for this is where mountains like the "Trata Kutti" and "Sang-safed" are in their fledgling stage.

 There are regular and direct bus services from Srinagar to Yusmarg. You can also hire private taxi from Srinagar.

 The Jammu Tawi Railways Station is the nearest major railhead. .

The closest airport is Srinagar that connected with numbers of direct flights from Jammu, Delhi, Leh, Mumbai, etc.
