Kadmat island one among the Lakshadweep group of islands situated 407 kms. far from Kochi (Cochin), Kerala. The blue water lagoon is encircling the invaluable wealth of colorful corals, coral habitats, the reef banks, unspool virgin beaches, the sun and the moon!
 Based on the ecological and economic value of this island, the Ministry of Environment and Forests and Union Territory of Lakshadweep Government have declared it as a marine protected area for preservation of these habitats and their resources.
 Kadmat has tourist attractions of kayaking , snorkeling  and leisure trips by a glass-bottomed boat for scuba diving . The island, in the shape of "tear-drop", has the best pristine marine wildlife across the west coast of India and is the only island where non-Indian tourists are allowed to visit. It has only one beach resort for 50 guests
 The most outstanding strength of Kadmat island lies in its marine wealth. Surrounded on the eastern and western side by large lagoons of spectacular beauty, long and sandy beaches that makes the place one of the ideal tourist destinations in the region. The coral reef, reef banks, sea grass and nesting ground for marine turtles etc all are very unique from an ecological perspective.
  One can take a boat and go explore the lagoon and the seas.

Kadmat island is spindle shaped, broadest in the middle tapering towards the narrow strip at the southern end. One of the largest in Lakshadweep group, Kadmat is 8 Km long and 550 m wide at the broadest point. The major features associated with the island are reef flat, reef slope, lagoon, sandy beach and island vegetation.
It is a haven of solitude with long silver shoreline, sand banks on southernmost tip and beautiful shallow lagoon of even depth ideal for swimming.
What to do: Crystal clear blue waters can be seen only in Lakshadweep in India. The place is a heaven for coral lovers and under water sea life. White sands with coconut trees will challenge landscape photographers. There are no shops and restaurants in Lakshadweep. So, forget shopping !
Best time to visit: October to mid February is the ideal time to visit Lakshadweep as the winter weather is pleasant. The summer is very hot here. Ships do not sail during the monsoon.
How to get there: SPORTS (Society for Promotion of Nature Tourism and Sports) arranges package tours originating from Cochin port by ship. There are flights from Cochin to Lakshadweep. But, travel by ship is strongly recommended to view the beauty of the islands at sea.

Kavaratti-Island is a prime and the most famous tourist destination in Lakshadweep. This Island is enthralled with the everlasting natural beauty which has striking snow-white colored sands and tranquil lagoons that make it a perfect tourist spot for all those who love nature and its glory. The administrative capital, Kavaratti is the most developed of the islands with the highest percentage of non-islanders as residents. Fifty two mosques are spread out over the island, the most beautiful being the Ujra mosque. A well, within its precincts, is believed to contain water of curative powers. The Ujra mosque has an ornately carved ceiling, said to have been carved from a piece of driftwood.
Kavaratti also has an aquarium with several colourful species of fish. There is a glass bottom boat for viewing marine life and an array of remarkable coral formations that pro- vides a background to the lagoons and the islands within them. The Kavaratti Island is the headquarters of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. This island is at a distance of 404 km (218 nautical miles) from Kochi and is located between Agatti Island on the west and Andrott Island on the east
Kavaratti is the most developed and second most populated island out of the 36 islands of Lakshadweep.
The many lagoons around Kavaratti bring you in the company of star fish, sea cucumbers, and species of fish and other marine life. It is also known for the coconut palms that grow on the northern side of the island.
The lagoon city, Kavaratti is abundant in marine wealth. It attracts tourists towards itself for its water sports, sandy beaches, marine aquarium, paddle boats, inflatable motor boats, and glass bottom boats for watching marine life.
How to Reach
Travel to Kavaratti is not very easy. There are no direct links through air, road and rail. A tourist has to travel to Kochi in Kerala before reaching the islands of Lakshadweep. Water transport is a mode of transport that caters to Kavaratti and is most comfortable in provision of direct links to this island through the sea.
By Air
Agatti is the nearest airport at Lakshadweep and is located about 56 km from Kavaratti. It is well connected with mainland at Kochi (Cochin) from where all other airports in India are networked.
The flight from Cochin International Airport to Agatti Island at Lakshadweep takes one hour and thirty minutes approximately, and it operates six days a week.
By Ship
M.V Tipusultan, M.V. Bharatseema, M.V Aminidivi and M.V Minicoy are the passenger ships that operate from Cochin to the islands of Lakshadweep. These voyages take around 14 to 20 hours.
There are direct ships from Kochi to Agatti, Kavaratti, Kadmath, Amini.
Speed boats provide inter transportation facilities. These ships are comfortable and accommodate tourists of all classes, with A/C Deluxe Class with two berth cabins, A/C First Class with four berth cabins and Tourist Class with A/C seating.
By Train
Indian Railways do not provide their services to Lakshadweep islands. There is no train facility to reach Lakshadweep islands. Similarly, there is also no providence of any buses being plied.

By Air
Indian Airlines flies from Kochi (formerly Cochin ) to Agatti island. On arrival at Agatti, you will be transferred to either Bangaram or Kadmat Island by private resort boats. It is advisable to book both your inbound and outbound tickets well in advance.
By Sea
There is a ship service that taken about 20 hours to reach Lakshadweep from Kochi. Tickets can be obtained on arrival or by your travel agent.

Agatti is the Island also recognized as Agathy located in Union Territory Lakshadweep. Agatti Island is spread in 5.6 kms area only, though it’s most amazing spot for voyagers. Kochi is closest big destination to attain Agatti, but that is also 459 kms away. Small but closest another island of Agatti is Bangaram located at seven kms distance in south direction. Talking about inhabited islands Kavaratti is closer one placed at only gap of 54 kms.
Populace of Agatti is approximately 8000 as per Indian census. People from Muslim community are more in island. People believe traveler from Arab Mr. Ibn Batuta discovered this place and established Muslim community in area. People from other religions also converted to Muslim in Agatti. Local language of island is Malayalam, though they also speak English. Island is having own powerhouse of 100 kW using fuel to produce electricity. By Air: domestic airport of Agatti is only airport in islands of Lakshadweep. Frequent flights from Kochi and Bangalore are available for Agatti. Air India Airlines is providing daily flights except Sunday from Cochin to Agatti.
By Helicopter: travelers can go for helicopter service available between Agatti and Kavaratti every day. During monsoon helicopter, service is extended from Bangaram Island to Agatti Island.
By Sea: big sources of transport to reach Agatti are Cruiser ships operated among Kochi to Agatti. M V Tipu Sultan and M V Bharat Seema are two big cruisers ship running between spots frequently offering air-cooled decks and AC cabins to their voyagers. Some more firms are having ships like M V Minicoy, M V Kavaratti, M V Amindivi, and M V Arabian Sea.

Minicoy Island is located in the southernmost region of Lakshadweep. Being the second largest island in the entire region, Minicoy Island has a semi-lunar shape. It is the only island in which the Mahl language is spoken and on all the other islands Malyalam is spoken. Counted amongst one of the largest lagoon in Lakshadweep, the island is ideal for tuna fishing.
 Minicoy Island is a picturesque destination in Lakshadweep and is an amazing city to visit. It is a popular tourist spot and is bounded by a land of natural beauty with fresh spread out water.
Minicoy, also known as Maliku, was formerly a part of the Maldives islands and is now a census town in the Indian Union Territory of Lakshadweep. It is the second largest as well as the southernmost island in Lakshadweep and measures 10 kilometres from its northern end to southern most point. It is a long island completely covered with coconut trees.
One of the significant attractions of Minicoy is a tall lighthouse, which is one of the oldest, built in 1885 by the British.
The culture of Minicoy Island is somehow different from the cultural traits of other islands of Lakshadweep. The mannerisms and customs of the residents of Minicoy are more similar to the people of Maldives. The main language of the island is Dhivehi and its social structure matches those of matrilineal Muslims, in which a man has to live in his wife or mother’s house. This is the reason that the island is also referred to as the ‘female island.’
This is the southernmost island of the Lakshadweep group of islands. In fact it is just 70kms from Maldives and therefore ethnically and culturally closer to them. The lagoon here is beautiful with clear blue waters and clean white sand.
This wonderful place surrounded by the blue waters of the islands offers a colossal view. Minicoy is famous for its important center for tuna canning, tuna fishing, Colorful boats, wonderful fish in several sizes coconut palms sunshade and hues. 
The best time to visit Minicoy Island is between the months of October and April, when several colorful activities and programs are held here, by the local folks. The traditional Laval Dance is the main attraction of these festivities.
How to Reach
By Air
Cochin International Airport links Lakshadweep with the mainland. Onward flights from Cochin are available to most of the airports in India and to selected foreign destinations. Agatti is the only airport in Lakshadweep. Helicopter transfer is available from Agatti to Kavaratti throughout the year. The flight from Cochin to Agatti takes approximately one hour thirty minutes. Flights operate six days a week.
By Ship
M.v Tipu Sultan, m.v Bharat Seema, m.v Minicoy, m.v. Amindivi & m.v Kavaratti, m.v Arabian sea are the ships operating from Cochin. Ships also offer deluxe class to make the ride convenient for passengers.
