Murudeshwar is a town in the Bhatkal Taluk of Uttara Kannada district in the state of Karnataka. It is famous for a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is pilgrims paradise and located on NH 17.This temple is built on the Kanduka Hill and offers breathtaking scenery because it is surrounded on three sides by the water of the Arabian Sea. This temple is built in granite. Besides the temple, sculptures and monuments enhance the beauty of Murudeshwar Temple. These  Sculptures tell stories of Shiva and Ravana. The pilgrim finds himself in the midst of other numerous sculptures on the Kanduka hill. Right from the monumental entrance arch, the divinity of the place envelops the pilgrim.
 Murudeshwar is having beautiful blue waters of the sea and the majestic mountains.
 Murudeshwar beach situated between Honnavar and Bhatkal, 1 km off the National Highway  is  the scenic holy place of Murudeshwar. The beach here were also huge and beautiful stretch across a greenish coconut tree shores. The place was way more crowded but cheap as it has lesser foreigners around.
 The sea side restaurant (Naveen) was awesome and had a great view along the sea and the imposing Shiva statue and the temple.
The Rajagopura at the entrance of the Temple complex is the world's tallest, standing at 249 feet. This is the newly added masterpiece and inaugurated in May 2008. The Gopura has 22 floors and is the only Gopura to be fitted with elevators.
 The good thing about the temple of Lord Shiva is that once you are near the temple you do not need to ask anybody about the direction. And that is because, from quite a distance, one can see the huge towering figure of Lord Shiva to guide them towards the temple
 Murudeshwar is Famous for the world's second-tallest , the town lies on the coast of the Arabian Sea and is also famous for the Murudeshwar Temple.
  It is the second highest statue of  Lord Shiva in the world. The Tallest Lord shiva statue is in Nepal known as the Kailashnath Mahadev Statue. The statue is 123 feet in height and took about two years to build.

How to reach :
By Air
Mangalore international airport is the nearest about 153 km away to the south. It is connected to all major cities in the country and few destinations abroad. Taxis are available from the airport to reach Murudeshwar.
By Train
Murudeshwar railway station is connected to Mangalore and Mumbai. Mangalore is the major railhead and it is connected to all major cities in India. Murudeshwar railway station is just over 2 km east of the town and can be reached by buses and auto-rickshaws.
By Road
Private and state run buses connect Murudeshwar to Mumbai, Kochi and Bengaluru. Situated on the NH17 which connects Mumbai to Kochi, regular buses ply regularly between the two cities and pass through Mangalore. Bengaluru is connected to many other important cities in the region.

Karwar beach at Karwar, Karnataka is one of the most splendid ones of its kind. There are actually five beaches at Karwar. Devbagh beach is the most beautiful of them all. The beauty of this beach has been praised by eminent personalities such as Rabindranath Tagore.
The main activities that the visitors should participate while in Karwar beach are snorkelling and diving. They should also visit the Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary, which is 175 kilometers to the east of the beach.
The major attractions at Karwar beach are the Naganatha Temple and the Dargah of Peer Shan Shamsuddin Kharobat.
There is an octagonal church at Karwar beach, which is unique as well. There is a Venkatrama temple at Karwar beach, which is 300 years old. It is well known for its ocher colored paintings.

By Air 
The nearest air link from Karwar is provided by the Dabolim Airport of Goa, situated approximately 90 km away. It is well connected with all the major cities of India, such as Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi, by direct and regular flights. Indian Airlines and Jet Airways are amongst the major airlines that serve the airport. From here, you can take a taxi or a bus to Karwar, with the former costing around Rs 1,500.
By Rail 
Karwar has a railways station of its own, situated about 2 km away from the main town. A major station on Konkan railways, it has a number of important trains, such as Matsyagandha and the Netravati Express, making a stoppage. From the station, you will easily get an auto rickshaw for going inside the town.
By Road 
Karwar is situated at a distance of 105 km from Panaji (Goa), 298 km from Mangalore, and 513 km from Bangalore. It boasts of a good road network, which connects it with all the major cities of Karnataka as well as the neighboring states. There regular KSRTC buses from Karwar to the nearby cities. In case you want to drive to the place, from Bangalore, take NH4 to Tumkur and then NH206 towards Shimoga. After Bhadravathi, head towards Honavar, via Sagar and from there, take NH17 for reaching Karwar

Shivanasamudra, or Shiva Samudram, is a popular picnic spot situated in the Mandya District of Karnataka. Shivanasamudra, which literally stands for ‘Shiva’s Sea’, is a quaint island town situated on the River Cauvery.

Sathodi Falls is a wonderful and picturesque rectangular shaped waterfall in the Uttara Kannada region in Yellapur district. The place is less packed with tourists, but indeed a beautiful waterfall to sight. The water falls from a height of 15m and forms a pool beneath. The stream of water contains a jumble of rocks and sometimes impossible to approach Sathodi Falls.
In between the bushes and the rocky terrain, there are small pathways leading to the waterfalls. The water flow is formed by the union of many other rivers that flow to Kallarmane Ghat, in Uttara Kannada region.
The rock formations around the waterfalls form a natural enclosure with the bountiful greenery and the clear and crystal water below. The waterfall has water all-around the year. Being fed by multiple tributaries the waterfall always has water. The water body formed below is ideal for a dip. One can enjoy the cool waters and swim through the clear water. The serene place is ideal for a picnic.
The best time to visit Sathodi waterfall is from November to April.

By Road
Yellapur (32km) is the closest destination to Sathodi Falls. From Bangalore (423 km) one can hire a cab or even take up KSRTC buses to reach Yellapur and from Yellapur tourists can hire an auto or a cab to reach the waterfalls.
By Air
Hubli (68km) is the nearest airport to Yellapur. Hubli is connected to major cities like Bangalore and Mysore. From Hubli, one can hire a taxi or take up a bus to reach Yellapur and then to Sathodi Falls.
By Train
Hubli (68km) is the nearest railway station to Yellapur. From Yellapur one can take up a bus or taxi to reach the waterfall.

Magod Falls is a waterfall located in Karnataka. It is 80 kms from Karwar and 17 kms from the town of Yellapur. It is easily accessible by rail and road from the towns. The river Bedti falls from the height of 200 meters forming the Magod Falls. 
The place is remote with a magnificent view of the falls. You will find a large lake on the way to Magod Falls known as Kavade Kere which has an area of 60 acres. It is an ideal picnic spot with a beautiful view. The fall flows down into a rocky path from the height of 650 feet.

Known for its bio-diversity and mineral wealth, Kudremukh is located in the Chikmagalur district of Karnataka. In Kannada, Kudremukh means ‘horse’s face’ and the place gets its name from a peak that resembles the face of a horse. 
There are dense forests around the town and wildlife spotting is popular, even though the forest cover makes it difficult to spot animals easily. You need to go deep in the jungle to catch a glimpse of the wildlife. Three vital rivers  Bhadra, Nethravati and Tunga  originate from the region.
The Kudremukh range of mountains was declared a national park in 1987. You need to have prior permission and a licensed guide to trek the summit.
The Kudremukh National Park is the second largest protected region in the Western Ghats that is spread over an area spanning 600 sq km. The region is home to langurs, macaques, barking deer, malabar giant squirrels and chitals. Leopards, tigers, jackals and wild dogs have also been spotted here.
Kudremukh is also known for its natural and scenic beauty, rich wildlife and dense forests. A drive within these forests is often thrilling. Such factors of environment often attract tourists to this place.

The mountain peak of Kodachadri forms the picturesque background for the Sri Mookambika Temple of Kollur. Kodachadri lies in the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary. The mountain is 1343m tall and is the highest peak in the Shimoga district of Karnataka.
The Kodachadri mountain peak rises from amidst the dense forest and this place is situated in the middle of the Mookambika National Forest in the Shimoga district. It lies about 400 km from Bangalore.
The goddess resides at the peak, which is barren due to frequent and strong winds. Apart from being home to the most endangered flora and fauna, this forest also offers a great trekking track.
Trekking here is fairly difficult, although it is ideal for beginners. Kodachadri is known for its picturesque surroundings and the forest houses Malabar langurs, king cobras, hyenas, bison and pythons.
One of the main reasons why Kodachadri is famous is because it is termed as the Sarvajna Peetha. It is said that the great philosopher Adi Shankaracharya had performed his meditation here.
The ideal time to visit Kodachadri would be around October-March and travelling through jeeps on these rough roads would be the best way to travel. Jeeps will be available for hire from Kollur. During your trip to Kodachadri, though, watch out for leeches as these are a problem in places with thick vegetation.

By Road
To reach Kodachadri, travelers first have to go to Nagodi Village, from where the trekking begins. There are no buses available for this village, so tourists have to go from Bangalore to Shimoga or Udupi. Public transport, such as jeep, taxi, cab and bike, are available from here to travel to the village.
By Train
Kundapura Railway Station is the nearest railhead to Kodachadri, situated at a distance of about 148 km. The railway station is well connected by regular trains to major nearby cities and towns 
By Air

Jog Falls are located in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. Four cascades, known as Raja, Rani, Rover and Rocket merge to form the huge waterfall on the Sharavathi River. The falls are locally known as Geruoppe Falls, Gersoppa Falls and Jogada Gundi. Jog itself is a Kannada word, which means falls.
The beauty of the waterfalls is enhanced by the lush green surroundings, which provide a scenic backdrop. Visitors can hike to the base of the falls and take a plunge in the water.
 A narrow path from view point leads to bottom of the falls. The walk is steep & little difficult and takes about 45 minutes one way. The view is amazing from the bottom and the showering sizzles of the falls at bottom are really worth the effort (water bottles are sold in midway of the trek path). However, the path is mostly inaccessible or dangerous during peak monsoons and it's suggested to go down only in winter & summer seasons.
How to Reach
Jog falls is easily accessible and is well connected by road and train. The nearest town Sagar is around 30kms from the fall. One has to take a deviation of about 2kms, from the national highway to reach the falls. 
By Air : The nearest airport is Bangalore airport 378 kms away and Mangalore (180km).
By Rail : The nearest railway station is Shimoga (104 kms from Jog). From Shimoga one can go to Taluguppa in a train meter gauge or in a bus. From Taluguppa it is 16kms to Jog by road. There are around 4 trains daily to Shimoga from Bangalore.
By Road :  The best approach from Bangalore is via  Tumkur road, NH 4 and then turn left at Tumkur, along the NH 206 (the condition of the road may not be good) to Shimoga and Sagara towns which have several buses to the falls each day. Now there are direct KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) buses including luxury coaches from Bangalore to Jog (8.30- 9 hrs Hrs journey). One can also take a direct bus from Bangalore to Shimoga or Sagara and then take local bus from Sagara to Jog.
