Majorda,Goa,India

Majorda beach is located at a distance of about 37 km from the capital of Goa, Panaji in the Salcete taluka. This beach is strongly related with the Indian mythology. According to the legend Lord Rama was kidnapped and brought to the Majorda beach in his childhood. Another legend has it that Lord Rama came to the beach in search of his wife Sita. He is said to have arrived to Cabo-de-Rama, which lies in the southern part of the beach.
Majorda Beach is a fresh and very less frequented, Majorda lie close to the port city of Vasco and are ideal for picnickers. Though popular, they are less heavily frequented among the prominent beaches of Goa. There are small clusters of beach shack restaurants and a few fishing villages scattered under the coconut palms here.

Majorda is also the place where the Jesuits discovered the best toddy of Goa who used it to leaven the bread. Even today the people of Majorda are known to be the best bakers of Goa as they were the first to know the art of baking European breads.
This beach is also known for the Goa Christmas Carnival, which is celebrated with lot of pomp and show. This festival is often filled with fun and high tea offered at this time.
Like most of the Goan beaches, this one too offers water sports activities including surfing, skiing, snorkeling, Paragliding, parasailing, banana ride and so on.

Nightlife is another thing which tourists enjoy doing. Most of the pubs and nightclubs offer huge entertainment at these parties and tourists like to go to these parties.
How to Reach
By Air- The nearest airport is Dabolim airport, situated close to Panaji and is just 26 km from Majorda. The flights from this airport connect the place with several major cities of India as well as a few international airports.
By Rail- The nearest airport is situated in Margao, which is just 14 km from Majorda. The Margao railway station is connected with all the major cities of the country.
By Road- You will get buses at regular intervals from Margao bus stand to Majorda. Panaji, the capital city, is also well connected with Majorda through well built roads. Motorcycles and taxis can also be hired to reach Majorda.
