Benaulim,Goa.India

Calm and peaceful with a long stretch of white sand coastline. This firmly describes the leisure beach situated in the south of Goa, about 2 kms from the Colva beach. Being named similarly as the town of Benaulim, this beach in Goa is left untouched by the tourists which makes it a perfect escapade for someone looking for closeness to nature. Enjoying the immense beauty and serenity, one can simply laze around on the Benaulim beach. Apart from the beach, the place also homes Church of St.John the Baptist which is a classic example of Goan architecture.
The rapid inflow of tourists has turned this once fishing and rice farming village into a popular beach that commands a decent inflow of tourists every year. The Benaulim beach, which hardly made its way to the list of an average backpacker ten years back, has today gained much reputation and fame of being a happening beach in Goa.

The beach provides a natural landscape and makes the surroundings absolutely photogenic. The tall swaying palm trees, the blue ocean, the golden sands, the wooden boats scattered at strategic places, all make this beach a scene out of Paradise.
The best thing about Benaulim beach is that it has remained a rather un spoilt beach even though it is a famous tourist destination.
Benaulim Beach has a legend attached to it. It is said that the location was formed when Lord Parshuram shot an arrow from the Sahayadris, which landed here. Hence it was called Banavli (meaning ‘formed out of an arrow’) and later referred to as Benaulim by the Portuguese.

Miles and miles of clean, white, sandy beach lace the Arabian Sea coastline. It’s just the right place for travelers looking for a calm place to relax and chill. This beach is quite popular amongst locals as they come here for enjoying the destination away from all the hustle and bustle of city life.
