Vagator Beach - Goa - India

Vagator Beach is the northernmost beach of Bardez Taluka, Goa. It is located on the opposite bank of the Chapora River from Morjim in Pernem. To the south of Vagator is Anjuna, one of the first hippy haunts of Goa. Located in North Goa. This beautiful beach is located about 22 Kms from Panaji and is situated in Bardez taluka. This is part of a 30 km stretch of beach coastline along the west coast of Goa by the arabian sea that begins at Fort Aguada continues as Sinquerim beach, then as Candolim beach and merges into Calangute beach and then to Baga beach and then Anjuna beach and then to Vagator beach finally ending at Chapora beach and Fort. Situated close to the Anjuna beach.
Besides the breath-taking beaches, Vagator has other attractions also to offer. From Vagator beach in Goa, you can see the 500-year-old Portuguese Fort. It takes you down the memory lane depicting the Old Portuguese era. If you want to hike up to this fort, you are welcome .climb up those black rocks and reach this fort, once inside the fort, you won't mind the fatigue you are feeling because The view from this fort is absolutely stunning, you get to see wide expanse of greenery and the blue sea till your eyes can reach.
The Vagator beach adjoining Anjuna is secluded, crescent shaped and situated on the Caisua bay along the Chapora river basin, in the shadow of Chapora fort. During the tourist season, it is a favorite venue for mid night parties. Vagator beach is famous for its soft white sands, the black lava rocks, the coconut palms and the lush green landscape.
The climate of Vagator Beach remains hot and humid except in winter and receives heavy rain due to the proximity of Arabian Sea. Best season is winter when temperature stay pleasant.
Vagator Beach has dramatic red cliffs looking down on the shore and two fresh water springs within a stone's throw of the sea. But Vagator has little by way of seaside accommodation.
The inhabited area around this beach is lush green, dotted with coconut palms, friendly farmhouses and pictorial Portuguese bungalows. On the north-west corner of the city are the remains of the Chapora fort. The fort is well preserved and offers some splendid views from its ramparts.
When you are at this Goa beach, you will come across small villages where the fishing community resides. The fishermen set out to the sea as brightly dressed women see them off and wait for their return. When they come back with their catch, there is excitement all around, children running about to see what the Goan fishermen have caught. If you go and speak to them, they will be only eager to talk to you about the day's catch and if you are interested and they agree, you can also be a part of their team when they leave for the sea the next day.
What is the trademark of Goa is very well reflected in Vagator which is one of the most beautiful of the soft white sand beaches that Goa is famous for. Whenever you see a picture of a beach typically dotted with palm trees and sea green water with people in water clothes and having fun in water, you will see all this and much more in the Vagator beach.
