Jai Vilas Palace,Maharashtra,India

The Jai Vilas Palace is the most popular historic sightseeing destination of the city of Jawhar. This palace is also known as Raj Bari and used to be the residential palace of the kings of Munke family. 
The Jai Vilas palace was built by Raje Mr.Yashwant Rao Mukane in near by 1940. The name Jai Vilas is derived from the one of the raje of Jawhar Mr. Jaiba Maharaj Mukane.
The Jai Vilas Palace is a masterpiece in pink stone. The drive to the palace takes you through a well-laid mud road, surrounded by trees on either side. Standing tall in the midst of a massive garden, the palace is deserted as no one lives here permanently anymore, except for the caretaker.
The interiors of this palace display the culture and lifestyle of tribal kings of Munke family. 
Due to its unique architecture, the palace has also been used for several film shootings.

The domes of the palace are highly attractive and the palace itself is located in the midst of lusting green sceneries offered by the thick forests around. The palace is surrounded by extensive cashew plantations. The pathway from the main gate to the palace is lined with dense growth of bushes on both sides.
The palace is a master piece of pink stone.There is a beautiful garden with a dense forest like foliage, having trees of cashewnut everywhere.
The palace has beautiful portraits of the Mukne tribe and a children's nursery, drawing room, antique furniture, bedroom, stuffed animals and a large lobby. There are a total of almost 50 rooms at the palace.
This palace is located on a hill top and due to its location it was used by the kings to keep an eye on their enemies. Its most attractive feature is its domes while its surroundings comprise of lush green forests. 
Located on the hilltop, Jai Vilas Palace is regarded as Jawhar's one of the most prominent historic sites. 
How to Reach 
By Air
Nasik is the nearest airport at a distance of 80 km. Mumbai is connected to Nasik by air. Mumbai is the major airport at a distance of 165 km. Mumbai is well connected with all major cities of India.
By Train
Jawhar does not have a train station, and the nearest station is Igatpuri, at a distance of 42 kms from Jawhar
By Road
Jawhar is well connected to the neighbouring regions by road. Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation buses are available from the neighbouring regions. Regular MSRTC bus services from Mumbai, Thane, Dahanu and Nasik ply to Jawahar.
