Shrivardhan nestles amidst the mountain in the north, the
sea on the west and the creek in the south. The two main roads, Tilak Marg and
Prabhuali Marg are parallel to each other and traverse the whole town and reach
up to the sea. Linking them are cross roads. To wander around here, with lush
green gardens on either side, is an experience in itself. Shrivardhan has many
historical and cultural sites to attract visitors. It is also a central place
from where Harihareshwar and Diveagar can be reached.

from Murud-Janjira to Shrivardhan
The coast is about 3 kilometres long, very clean and very
calm. This is the main attraction of Shrivardhan. Walk around the beach and
feel exhilarated. An occasional wave will wash your feet. The sunsets are
particularly fascinating. The dipping sun, the golden waves, and the occasional
boat crossing the waves, is a sight to behold. Cameras are now out to capture
this scene and later re-live the memory of this walk.
Shriwardhan is a small town in Raigad district, in the state
of Maharashtra.This beautiful coastal region has a town called Harihareshwar
which is famous for a Shiva temple. Shriwardhan has a number of beaches and
gives an illusion of a peninsula. The destination also has other beautiful
beaches nearby such as Diveagar Beach and Kondivali Beach. A huge number of
people come from across Maharashtra to Shriwardhan to visit the nearby beaches
all round the year.
Shriwardhan has historical importance. It is believed that
Arjuna visited Shriwardhan in his pilgrimage. Shriwardhan was under Ahmadnagar
and afterwards under Bijapur. It also has mention in the accounts of leading
European travellers like Ziffardan. It is also known as the birth-place of
Balaji Visvanath, who was the first Peshva and the Deshmukh of the town.
Shrivardhan is a beach about two miles in length with black
smooth sands. Its relatively clean considering that it’s a fishing village and
obviously a few dead fish on the beach is unavoidable.
Gentle winds, soft powder-like sand, and inviting waters
make the Shriwardhan Bay irresistible for any beach lover.
The water is very clean and more than swimming a walk in the
water suits the mood of the beach. The flat beach is an ideal destination for a
lazy weekend away from the drudgeries of everyday life.
The Shrivardhan beach is said to have sun kissed
sands and is spectacular to look at. The beach in itself is clean and the view
from the beach is magnificent.
The surrounding hills make a perfect foil for the impending
stretch of pristine beach that still remains one of the most unspoiled and
unsoiled stretches of sand in the Konkan.

The best time to visit Shriwardhan is from October to March.
Shriwardhan is well connected by road to places like Panvel, Mumbai and Pune .
The nearest rail station is at Madgaon and the nearest airports are at Pune and
Mumbai.

Shrivardhan is well connected to all neighboring cities by
Government owned buses. Buses connect Mumbai (185 km), Pune (163 km),
Harihareshwar (20 km) and Panvel(125 km).
By Train
Nearest railhead is Mangaon,which is 45 km away
from Shrivardhan and this railway station in Konkan rail is well connected to
Pune and Mumbai.
By Air:
The nearest airport is in Mumbai that is 215 km from
Shriwardhan.
