Vengurla-Maharashtra-India

Vengurla is an alluring beach town, located on the Konkan coast in the southern most district of Sindhudurg in Maharashtra. Just 110 km north of Goa, Vengurla is popular for its long stretch of clear white sand beaches ringed by high mountains.
There are a couple of temples near Vengurla beach that act as tourist attractions - Rameshwar Mandir and Shri Devi Sateri temple. There are other major tourist attractions like Sagareshwar farming research center, Mochappa, Shiroda village, Nevati, Ganapati of Redi and Vithoba temple.
Vengurla is famous for its long stretch of iridescent sand, lined up with thick cashew, coconut, jackfruit and mango groves. Vengurla rocks or Burnt Islands is so near to this beach.
The Vengurla Beach is one of the popular beaches in Maharashtra. It offers a perfect relaxation spots to tourists.
Though not a shopping destination, roasted cashew nuts and sweets made from cashew are worth trying and are found in shops all around the town.
Vengurla beach is well known for artworks like Chinese clay pottery and salt pans. Besides, there is the unique Malvani cuisine, which is different from food available in the Konkan region. Besides, visitors can also enjoy home made food at Vengurla beach. Visitors can also visit the famous forts of Padamgad and Sindhudurg in Malvan town near Vengurla beach. The most opportune time to come to Vengurla beach is from September to May.
How to reach:
By Air:
The nearest airport is at Dabholim, Goa.
By Rail:
Nearest railheads are at Kudal and Sawantwadi Road which are about 30 kms away.
By Road:
Take NH-17 from Mumbai upto Kudal. From there, take a diversion.
From Pune drive through the picturesque Gaganbawada (Karul Ghat), Talere till Kudal. One can also drive through Pune –Kolhapur- Amboli- Sawantwadi-Vengurla.
State transport buses ply from Mumbai, Pune, Kudal and Sawantwadi.
