With shores of soft, golden and black volcanic sand, Auroville beach is one of the best beaches of Pondicherry that is located at a distance of just 12 km from the main town. Flocked by visitors mainly during the weekends, this beach offers spellbinding sunset views. A war memorable dedicated to martyrs of World War I and a 4 m long statue of Mahatama Gandhi are two of the popular monuments, near the beach.
This beach is a wonderful ambiance that is popular among youths.  You can enjoy sunbathing, swimming and beach volleyball. While you simply laze around, let the cool breeze brush past your face. Spend some peaceful moments at Auroville beach.
Auro Beach  Located at walking distance from the Auroville Bus stop on ECR (East Coast Road), Auro Beach is considered one of the best beaches on India's Eastern. Most of the people found on the beach are either Europeans or Tamils.
This beach like all beaches in India was beautiful yet polluted. You won't find any small eateries or much crowd on this beach however , it still completely satisfies the delight of visiting a wonderful beach for a city dweller like me.
The beach was tranquil welcoming very less number of tourists in monsoon season. It’s in the proximity of many small villages enjoying the break from fishing business.
Auroville is meant to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony, above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realize human unity.

The coast of Auroville is lined with soft, golden and black volcanic sand,on the shores of a roaring sea.
